Book Club help!

I get to pick the book for the next book club and honestly, I am just so confused. I want to pick a book people will enjoy, that will provide fodder for good discussion, be a quick enough read that people won't give up--but not TOO easy...and the list goes on and on.

The book I've always wanted to read and am leaning towards is The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. But I don't know if perhaps that won't grab people?

So, what are YOUR favorite books? What would you like to read and discuss for a book club?

I really love "These is my words". It's an excellent read. Maybe longer than you are looking for, but great anyway.

"The Giver" is also a great one for discussion, and is YA book, so it's a quick read.

Oh, and Shannon Hale books (like Goose Girl) are also great.

Are you on goodreads? I love that website. :)

They've done These Is My Words. (I need to read it too.)

I have not read any Shannon Hale books.

And I am on Goodreads! Friend me! (Is that a verb? I guess so!)

And Hey! Hi Robyn! Good to "see" you!

We have done These is My Words and Sarah's Quilt. I believe The Giver is already chosen by someone else for another month, but you'd have to ask Mary about that. We did Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, but not Goose Girl (which I love).

Screwtape letters is one I have wanted to read, but I don't know much about it. I also recently read Carolyn Jessop's biography, Escape. That was pretty good, and definitely fodder for discussion.

Or you could pick Count of Monte Cristo and we can laugh at the name Dumas for another month. Or we can just read this book I just wrote in your comments.

I think that's a great choice. We have actually talked about reading that one for book club. We read goose girl by shannon hale for book club and everyone loved it and we ended up having a great discussion about divine nature and being a daughter of god. I think she even has a website with questions you can print out. good luck!

What about The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield?

A great, mystery. Around 400 pages, but a good read so it keeps your interest!

Cujo by Stephen King? Just a thought. I'm sure anything you pick will be great.

Bwhahahaha. Yeah...Cujo!

Actually, I am thinking The Screwtape Letters would be interesting. AND it is 88 pages. So everyone can even read the day of!

I think Screwtape Letters would be PERFECT! It's a favorite of ours.

And the Shannon Hale "GooseGirl" series is wonderfully fun.
